Week Two As A Published Author

Week two...I did have a few sales which I'm quite grateful for. That happened right after my first blog post about the first week as a brand new author. After that it dropped off.

A couple of interesting notes: I had one person tell me I'd never sell books the way I was marketing. My answer? I'm not so much trying to sell books as I am trying to get my name out there.

The second was a good one - I've been asked to participate on another blog. Details to follow as soon as I have them. I'm in the middle of getting everything together.

The market is over saturated at the moment with authors trying to do the exact same thing I am. The best advice I can give is stick with it and stay at it.

So the wheels are in motion and things, good things are beginning to happen! Stay tuned for week #3!

Mirage Has Been Released - What It's Like

My debut erotic novel, Mirage was finally released last week after many snags in the road. How did it feel for a debut author like me?

Frankly it sucked! Oh don't get me wrong, I was personally excited. I posted, as I had over the months leading up to the release. But in reality when it happened - I could have published a bunch of grade school poems and no one would be the wiser.

Sales: It had been up for pre-order through Smashword for months. Zero sales from that. Since last week I have sold less than a dozen copies...and that's even after lowering the price to $0.99 to entice readers.  I am a newbie and thought people might take a chance on me at that price.

Needless to say my balloon has been popped and I am licking my wounds. Don't count me out. I'm not going anywhere.

Just thought I'd share how it went for me in week one...now lets move past that to week two!

Dreams Do Come True by Tonya Kinzer

All this week I have the delicious Tonya Kinzer on the blog with her brand new series and book, Dreams Do Come True (Through His Lens Series)

Blurb:  Sandi’s career has taken off as a model and she loves her photographer…just not the way he wished she did. The men of her past abused her one too many times and the one woman in her life is being treated the same way. Can she get Kiera away from her abusive relationship and show her what true love really is? The two of them have been roommates for two years where Sandi has been forced to comfort her each time she’s been abused. Determined to put a stop to the abuse, Sandi has to show Kiera a new relationship already exists for her.

Excerpt:

Once they got into the elevator, Sandi pressed Kiera against the back wall, her tongue sweeping Kiera’s mouth as she sucked away every breath she had. Kiera laced her fingers behind Sandi’s nape, pulling her in for a deeper kiss. A moan slipped from Kiera’s throat before letting go of the fist of hair she held. Out of breath, Kiera stared into sultry hazel green eyes.  “Damnit, woman...you make me wet.”
“Good, then I’m getting my message through.” Sandi trailed her hand down Kiera’s back to cup her ass and squeeze. “I can’t wait to lick you dry, slut.”
“Only for you, mistress!” Kiera unlocked the door and Sandi closed it behind them and turned the deadbolt. Kiera leaned against the kitchen doorway and watched Sandi drop her purse on the counter and grab two champagne flutes, and fill an ice bucket.
Sandi looked back at Kiera. “You’re not naked yet.”
“I can’t take my eyes off of your sexy body. Come on, let’s get the bedroom set up. I’ve got plans for you.” Kiera slapped her ass as Sandi passed in front of her.
Sandi set the ice bucket on the night stand along with the glasses. She reached for the champagne, twisted it down into the ice and turned toward Kiera, sucking in her lower lip as her gaze moved over Kiera’s body. Kiera could easily see that Sandi had also had too much to drink as she envisioned Sandi naked, her full rounded breasts with their hard dark rose nipples.
Finally Sandi took in a deep breath. “Turn around so I can unzip your dress.”

“Only if I unzip yours first. You turn around.” Sandi did and Kiera took her time moving the zipper lower until it reached her ass. Pushing the dress from her shoulders, it pooled at Sandi’s feet. “Leave it.” Kiera unhooked her bra, let it drop and hugged her lover from behind, one hand cupping a breast and the other slipped inside her thong to tickle the slight patch of pubic hair.

Naughty Me!

Oh my, I am so neglectful! It has been over a month, almost two months since I last posted on here. I'm just so caught up in getting Mirage finished and perfect, I forget everything else.
I promise to be better! Really I do! As a treat here is a short excerpt...
Also - huge change, I've renamed the heroine from Tatjana to Eliza...
Keep watching, I am contemplating putting up the entire first chapter right here!

"Eliza, there you are! Come, you're having lunch in my office. It seems Mr. Rothschild wishes to meet you." Her brown eyes went up and down me like a fine tooth comb. Like she was looking for some flaw to call me out on.
Ashley Harrison, though an attractive enough woman was by most standards overweight. Though she looked as if she stepped out of a magazine herself, one could tell, if they knew her at all, she was unhappy. All the expensive makeup, clothing and shoes in the world couldn't hide that.
"Stop standing there like a star struck teenager. Jack hates to be kept waiting."
I turned and followed along behind her, trying to keep up with her long strides. Jack is it? Not Mr. Rothschild. Sighing I figured working that closely with the owner of one of his many fortune five hundred companies gave you the right to call him by whatever name he told you to. If he said jump, you jumped.

Sizzlin' New Excerpt From Mirage!

I'm so glad everyone had fun with the blog tour! It was my first and really enjoyed it. As a treat, I'm going to post another excerpt from Mirage. . .
Hold on...

Alex whispered in my ear. "Mr. Rothschild is expecting you. He's in suite 2022."
"Thank you," I replied, convinced I would be thought to be a call girl now.
Walking across the lobby I found the bank of elevators and waited. A car quickly appeared and I waited for it to empty. Following a small crowd I entered and pushed the button. I made every effort to not look at myself in the highly polished brass and to not to look at others.
Was this his love hideaway? Somewhere he could bring women rather than his own place? I mean he did have enough money to keep a penthouse suite here at his beckon call. Cold and impersonal. This way his date would never know where he lived, should she not like being discarded by the very seductive and wealthy Jack Rothschild.
Exiting the elevator car, I quickly found the suite. I sucked in a deep breath as I stared at the door. After a few seconds I knocked.
I didn't have to wait long. Jack himself appeared before me, dressed in dark grey slacks, a charcoal colored shirt and purple tie. Right then I immediately forgot any hesitations I might have had about coming here.
"Tatiana," he said, as I passed beside him. "You look ravishing this evening."
I said nothing at first, gliding into the parlor. I turned to face him. "Thank you, and thank you for inviting me." Then as to convince myself the reason he'd invited me in the first place, I continued. "You're right, this is a better choice. I think any more closed door meetings between the two of us and Ashley might lose it."
"Why?" He inquired. "Did she say something to you?"
Rather than go into detail I decided to keep my answer simple. "No, not really. It was obvious she wasn't happy being excluded from our conference with Maggie."
"Well there was no reason for her to be involved," he replied. "Could I get you something to drink? Wine, champagne, perhaps?"
"Wine would be nice, thank you." I turned and walked towards the bank of windows overlooking the city. Manhattan really was one of a kind at night. Unlike any other city I'd been in.
Suddenly I felt his hot breath in my ear. His lips brushed behind my ear. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
I had no room to breathe. One of his hands pressed flat to my stomach, pulling me back against him. I didn't fight him. I didn't want to. I found myself craving his touch, wanting more.
"Turn around, Tatiana."
As I slowly did, I moistened my lips. He groaned, lowered his head and sealed his mouth over mine. I was astounded at how soft those sensuous lips were. I sighed and his tongue slipped inside. He seemed to be tasting me in long, erotic licks, and it turned me on, making me crazy.
The hand he'd had on my waist was now resting on the curve of my hip, or rather my butt. Pulling me closer into him, he growled, deepening the kiss, stroking my tongue with his own. I kissed him back as though I might never get another chance. My breasts were tender against my bra and my clit screamed for him to touch me. His right hand pushed my dress up towards my waist. His breath hissed as his hand touched my thigh, until he had the dress where he desired it. Instinctively I parted my legs, allowing him access. (c)2014cdblackstone
